It wasn't exactly a meeting between Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas but it was the best our new, young President could offer. He had a beer with Sgt. Jim Crowley, who he called stupid, and radical leftist Harvard professor Henry Gates, who called Crowley a racist. The White House called the meeting a teachable moment, the lesson apparently being that you can call someone a stupid racist and it's alright if you have a beer with the person afterwards. This wasn't a teachable moment. It was a political stunt that diminished the Presidency and made the President look foolish. Oddly enough, the only person who seemed to actually drink any beer was Crowley, who took a sip at the beginning of the photo shoot. Obama looked like he was going to take a drink but apparently changed his mind and reached for the bowl of peanuts instead. It was all very bizarre.
